During this topic we will be focusing on World War 1, in particular the battle of the Somme.
Year 3 and 4 will be going on a visit to Cosford RAF Museum on Wednesday 20th April. There they will learn about what happened in the war, the different planes used and complete a workshop about life in the trenches.
Whilst focusing on the battle of the Somme the children will design and make a class banner for one soldier and this will be displayed in
Southwater on the 14th July.
I would like to say a big well done to all the
children in year 4 for taking part in the
performance—Alice in Wonderland. You did a fantastic job and I am very proud of you all for putting on such a spectacular show.
We encourage you to listen to your children read for 10 minutes each night. Thank you to all the parents that are already doing this.
The children can receive rewards in assembly on a Friday for reading. So keep up the hard work.
The children will need to bring in their PE kits on a Monday and they should remain in school till the Friday. They will take part in indoor and outdoor learning so the children must have warm clothing with sensible footwear.
The children will also be completing Forest School sessions so will need appropriate outdoor, waterproof clothing.
The children will now receive a piece of homework each week focusing on English and maths. This will be given out on a Friday and needs to be handed in by the following Wednesday. The children are also
encouraged to practise their timestables on a daily basis.
