Miss Bliss, Mrs Rai and Mrs Turner welcome you to year 3!
Welcome back to summer term!
This term we have been enjoying reading Erich Kastners ‘Emil and the Detective’. During our writing so far we have been learning all about description, thinking about our setting and characters which lead to our very own mystery/adventure stories about a detective!
Our next guided reading book is Philip Pullmans ‘The Firework-Makers Daughter’. Our focus in our writing will be instructions, persuasive writing, letter writing and play scripts.
This our topic is all about Telford and our local areas. We have been studying maps through different and will be comparing these to maps of Berlin (where our guided reading book is set).
On Friday 18th May we went on a trip to Telford courts and South water where we were able to carry out our surveys to inform our topic work. Thank you to Hawk Plant who provided us with some high visibility jackets to keep us safe and seen during our visit!
On Thursday 24th May Year 3 and Year 6 went on a heritage walk around Madeley which was led by the Year 6 children.
This term our next topic will be Tremor, where we will be learning all about volcanos, earthquakes and Tsunamis. Focusing on the structure of the earth and why these natural disasters occur. This will link to our science work all about rocks.
In year 3 we have PE on a Tuesday and Friday- pleasure ensure suitable kit is in school for these days.
Thank you for all of your support with homework last term. Homework will continue to be sent home Monday to be retuned on Friday. Please encourage your children to also read as often as possible at home, your children should aim to read 3 times a week
