Welcome to Year 2.
Miss Baynham and Mrs White welcome you to year 2.
During the first week back the children completed a project week on The Battle of the Somme. The children loved finding out about the battle and the local soldier, Private Richards, who died in the battle. The children created a range of work which is currently on display on our corridor. Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us for the sewing activity, where the children all created their own name badge.
Dungeons and Dragons
Following on from our ‘Banqueting’ topic the children will be learning about ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ this half term. The children will be bringing home their homework activities this week and we look forward to seeing their wonderful creations in school.
Hampton Court Castle
We had a fantastic time on our recent class visit to Hampton Court Castle. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and found out lots about castles. Their behaviour and interest in the activities was outstanding and they were a credit to the school. The staff were extremely proud of them all.
Condover Hall Residential 2016
The children will be heading to Condover Hall during this term for their annual residential. I will be holding a meeting before we go to explain what we will be doing over the 2 days and to answer any questions that you might have. All children will bring home an information pack which contains important information about what the children will need to pack and contact numbers.
You can have a look at their brochure by following this link:
We have been listening to music this week and as we did so we let our pen roam across the paper to produce some patterns. We really enjoyed this activity. Above are some of our pictures.
We had a great time building pixie houses and making shelters in Forest School this week.
Remember to bring warm clothes and suitable footwear.
Our topic this term is The Banquet. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the Royal Family, Henry VIII, Famous London Landmarks, The Great Fire of London and Castles.
The children have been given homework tasks to complete about this topic and already we have had lots of work to add to our class display.
We had great fun looking at the lifecycle of a salmon and then making sushi.
Reading At Home
Try to read at home with your child at least once a week. Once the book has been read return it to school for your child to choose another one.
Children receive an award in assembly for every 6 books they read.
